The Help by Kathryn Stockett
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I really enjoyed this book even though when I first began I thought I was going to hate it. The slang that was used was just really hard, at first, for me to understand. But, wanting to see what everyone was raving about, I just took my time and read slowly. After the first couple of chapters, it was easy and the language flowed.
Now, I'm not gonna get into the deeper racism, civil rights thing at the middle of the main story but rather focus on the beautiful character development and interaction between all the maids and their employer and Miss Skeeter. I really really enjoyed it immensely! It made me laugh and made me teary eyed, angry then elated! This is what I look for in a book and The Help really delivered!
This definitely goes on my read again shelf!
